Wax softening drops only recommended for impacted wax prior to your appointment

Ear wax, or cerumen, is a naturally forming substance in the outer portion of our ear canals. It's there to protect our ears, and ideally, excess wax is ejected from our ears as the skin in our canals grows outward.

Unfortunately, wax can become trapped and build up in the ear until it becomes uncomfortable, itchy, stops hearing aids from working optimally, or blocks the canal completely leading to a reduction in hearing and a feeling of fullness.

If you need wax removed, let James take care of you. With over 15 years experience in various wax removal techniques, he will employ the most suitable option, or combination of options, to clear your ears. In most cases, this will involve microsuction, which is a dry technique that can be likened to vacuum cleaning for the ears.

*In the rare instance that your wax is too hard and impacted for removal on the day, we will recommend overnight wax softening and arrange a follow up appointment. If no wax is found, we will check your middle ear using tympanometry to identify why you're feeling full/blocked.
